LIZA POLLOCK  -  ACUPUNCTURE

After working in the mental health and social work fields and teaching yoga for several years, I felt a pull towards being able to address health care from a wider lens—to be able to talk to people, listen, and help shift imbalances in physical, mental, emotional and
spiritual health. This is what I love about Chinese medicine—that it integrates all these aspects of our being by looking deeply into the whole person using modalities that are not only harmless but incredibly helpful and transformative, to bring about better health.

In 2009, I completed a master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine where I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine. The program included acupuncture, herbal medicine, therapeutic massage including tuina,
shiatsu & foot reflexology, Qigong meditation, and nutritional therapy, as well as western medical anatomy, physiology, pathology and diagnosis. Before settling in the Hudson Valley, I worked in clinics in Portland, Oregon, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, and currently
work in private practice in Kingston and with an integrative medical practice outside of Albany.

Although all acupuncturists receive education and training in a comprehensive variety of conditions and disorders, my areas of interest include (but are not limited to) musculoskeletal pain, anxiety and depression, fatigue, genitourinary disorders, digestive
disorders, allergies and other respiratory issues, women’s health including menstrual irregularities, menopause, fertility, pregnancy, post-partum and labor related issues including natural labor induction, cancer care and support, as well as wellness and health
maintenance.

Having had Lyme disease twice myself as well as being a two-time young cancer survivor, I have deep empathy of the challenges in the journey towards a return to health and an understanding that each person’s path and choices towards recovery are their own.
Chinese medicine helps awaken our own innate healing capacities within the body, mind, and heart to help bring about greater alignment with our natural and optimal state of health and happiness. With an intention on quality patient care, I take careful
consideration to understand the whole person and treat accordingly.
